The nominees for the Women in Film Awards (WIFA) are out. This is the second edition of the awards which seek to celebrate the drive, spirit and diversity of women in the Kenyan film making business. The voting lines which were officially opened today, will allow voters to select one nominee in each of the 19 categories up for contest.
Under the theme ‘The Woman Filmmaker Changing the Game.’ WIFA organizers had called for nominations submissions which ran from 15 December 2020 till 15 January 2021. Some of the categories up for contest include Best Producer, Best Sound Designer, Best Editor, Best Cinematographer, Best Script Writer, Best Costume Designer and Most Influential Woman personality just to mention a few.
Each of the 19 categories have 5 nominees. Some of them include Nduta Sialo, Sarah Teshna Ndanu, Sarah Hassan, Mercy Mutisya, Lulu Hassan, Michelle Angawa, Ruth Ndulu Maingi, and Catherine Kamau just to mention a few.
Past winners include Costume Designer Wambui Thimba, Producer Alice Kombani, Make-up Artist Fatou Hassan, and Sound Designer Mercy Adundo among others. Voting will close on 17th February so hurry and vote for your favourite nominees via the link here. Winners will be announced at a yet to be announced date.
