Controversial reality show “Wife Material” is set to make a comeback this Saturday even after being suspended indefinitely by Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB).
Speaking in an interview on Kiss 100 FM, Eric Omondi promised that the show will resume during the weekend with ‘very little changes’ despite KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua pressuring him to rework or axe it.
Omondi also said a season 3 is in the works
“Nilichoma but it was too much fun.”Said Eric in the interview.
“I am afraid because it is coming back on Saturday but I am sure it is going to be 150% the same. It was to resume tomorrow for another one and a half weeks and we vote looking for a wife but I think season 3 we will look for ‘the’ wife. I am serious this time, I am almost turning 40 hata mathe amekubaliana nami we want a wife.”
A committee consisting of comedians Jalang’o, Churchill, alongside celebrities Big Ted, Refigah, Nonini and other stakeholders was formed by Mutua to help handle the case following the comedian’s arrest last week.
“As I spoke to daktari (Ezekiel Mutua) we are all in agreement that our content don’t have to be dirty to sell. So, we’ll be avoiding obscenity and ‘Wife Material’ will continue bigger, better and of course cleaner,” Omondi said during the meeting with Mutua and the committee.
The committee was given four days to give feedback on the way forward following Omondi’s request to handle the case out of court.
On Instagram, Omondi revealed the show was coming back as early as Friday but had to postpone it to Saturday following the death of Tanzania’s president John Magufuli.
“Wife material was to resume officially this weekend but out of HONOR and RESPECT We will take time to CELEBRATE and MOURN our HERO and stand with our Brothers and Sisters from TANZANIA 🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿 We will Resume Afterwards,” said Omondi on social media.
