11 October of 2018 by

‘You’ll love it’. Yes, that’s Switch TV’s tagline – and they’re set on having you switched on for good.

The station held its official launch at a launch event which took place at The Boma Hotel, Nairobi earlier this week.

An initiative by The Kenya Red Cross, Switch TV is a transformational brand whose content is looking to be engaging, informative and progressive and will positively impact the Kenyan youth – who’s their target audience – to be the best version of themselves.

Present at the launch were the Red Cross Governor Dr. Mohamud Said, the Secretary General Abbas Gullet, Switch TV Chief Executive Officer Joanna Gommans with the guest of honor British High Commissioner to Kenya Mr. Nick Hailey among other key stakeholders.

The station’s sole objective is to empower the youth through entertainment by providing simple, positive and inspirational content. Switch TV will offer an array of programmes both local and international shows from across various genres: News, Comedy, Drama, Sports, Movies, Reality and so on.

According to Tamima Ibrahim, the station’s head of content, “we’ll have a unique line up of content that will be contemporary, contextual and portraying the progressiveness of Kenya’s youth.”

“Our content will mirror their positive mindset and dynamism; we will not only engage but empower youth to find solutions to issues facing them, while promoting positive values in youth culture. We will also be the ultimate digital platform as our content will also have a massive appeal across social media platforms,” she noted.

The station has invested in bringing onboard influential personalities in the Kenyan media space such as Kiss 100’s Shaffie Weru, Grace Musalame, DNG, Nonny Gathoni, Remmy Majala among others.

Switch TV is a digital free to air channel and will be available on Signet.
