The 2nd edition of the Red Bull Basement was officially launched recently at an event attended by some of the greatest minds in the Kenyan tech space. The event which was held at the Nairobi Garage targets Kenyan student tech lovers; giving them a chance to showcase their innovation at a global platform.
The Red Bull initiative, which is a global competition challenges students to drive positive social impact through innovative tech solutions. They support, develop, and give participating students an opportunity to confront the status quo, bringing to life their ideas for better living.
If you are an entrepreneurial tech student, then this is an opportunity to consider signing up for, as you will not only elevate your skills but get a chance to interact, network, and connect with like-minded people who can help turn your ideas into something tangible.
You will also get support and development through mentorship from international tech gurus providing you with a global network of innovators.
How it works:
Application phase
This is currently ongoing, and all you have to do is submit 60 seconds video before the 25th of October, explaining your brilliant idea on redbullbasement.com. The video can be in local dialect with Eglish subtitles. Check here for more details on the application.
Voting and Selection
Set to take place between Oct 26th – Nov 1. The submitted videos will go through public voting, and the ideas with the most votes in each country will proceed on to the next level where a panel of judges will select the best to represent their country.
Development
This is where the ideas are brought to life. Finalists from each participating countries will get access to a workspace and one on one sessions with international mentors in relevant fields. This will take place from the 2nd of Nov to 9th of Dec.
Global workshop
As it all culminates to final pitches, finalists will get extensive opportunities like workshops, mentorship sessions, and engagement with visionary thought leaders, and more in a city to be announced.
