Gengetone group Ochungulo Family have denied reports they had split up insisting they had just taken a long break and are now ready to return.
NellytheGoon, Dmore, and Benzema had disappeared from the music scene for close to a year. The group released a statement then saying they had to pause the group’s vision to pursue solo careers.
Ochungulo Family made its first appearance since 2021 at the 10th anniversary of the MNE festival (Mwanaume ni Effort) Fest which was headlined by Nigerian singer and songwriter Rema at Carnivore grounds on May 7.
The group, during the show, said that they are officially back to releasing music together and ready to drop their album in June.
“We agreed to go on a break and we are back. We’ve been working on a new album which will be out by June. I think you will love it,” said Benzema, one of the group members.
In 2021, the group released the statement saying they had to split because members had different goals.
“To all our fans, we wanna say thank you for the support you have given us the past for the past few years. You have been good to us, God has been good to us & the music has been good to us,” read the statement.
“We have reached a point where we have different goals & targets. So the decision of us splitting is a mutual feeling and we saw that as the best way forward.”
