Former Royal Media Services (Citizen TV) news anchor Waihiga Mwaura has joined British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as the Focus on Africa presenter.
Waihiga who has worked at Citizen TV for over 14 years shared the news via social media on Tuesday, March 2, adding that he will also host his last show on the same day.
“After 14 amazing years at Royal Media Services (Citizen TV), my time here has come to an end. My next stop is BBC News (BBC Africa) specifically Focus on Africa. I’ll share more details soon, but in the meantime, see you on my last episode of Newsnight at 9 pm on Citizen TV Kenya,” he shared.
The news anchor went on to express his gratitude to the news station while also acknowledging how his experiences has led him to be one of the top news anchors in the country.
BBC News Africa also took to social media to share their excitement on the arrival of Waihiga while also highlighting his talents.
“We’re delighted to announce that the talented Waihiga Mwaura will be presenting Focus on Africa TV from Nairobi. He’s a respected journalist and a former winner of the prestigious BBC News Komla Dumor award. We’re thrilled he’s joining our team,” the broadcastes stated.
