Fast-rising U.K urban and contemporary group WSTRN were in the 254 a couple of weeks ago for the Terminal Music Weekend and they were blown away. The group made up of Haile, Louis and Akella blew up in 2015 with their debut song In2 and quickly went viral to become an international force.
The group was in Nairobi and says they were surprised that, “it is a beautiful city as opposed to what the media feeds us”. After their show at the KICC, the group stayed two more days to shoot the video to their brand new jam ‘Sharna’ which they just released.
The video is shot across various locations including the KICC rooftop, Kibera, and South Coast Mombasa. The group also uses a beautiful curvy model from Nairobi throughout the video for aesthetic value.
The video really places Nairobi and Kenya on the map as the video will be viewed by thousands of WSTRN fans across the world and there might be a ripple effect on tourism.
The group seemed excited to be in Nairobi and that they had a huge following here too. They stated in an interview that the love was authentic and it was only right they shoot a video so that Kenya remains entrenched in their minds forever.
