Tusker OktobaFest is back, and this time it is grander, extending to the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan. For this edition, OktobaFest promises an unforgettable celebration of the region’s rich cultural tapestry. The organizers are committed to authentically celebrating the region’s unique cultural identity. This is by showcasing its food, music, fashion, art, and gaming, with beer as the uniting factor.
A Month-Long Extravaganza
The first of its kind in East Africa, OktobaFest starts in Juba, South Sudan on 14th October. The following stops will be Tanzania and Uganda where the festival will take place on 21st and 22nd October respectively. Finally, the month-long extravaganza will wrap up in Kenya from the 27th to the 29th October.
This extraordinary festival is set to feature hundreds of acts from across East Africa. They include Ndovu Kuu, Wakadinali, Wangeci, and Mutoriah, as well as a host of top talents from Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan.
Platform for Growth and Impact
Besides the celebrations, this year’s festival aims to leave a positive impact across the region by offering over 500 vendors, artists, and event partners an opportunity to showcase their products and services. East African Breweries Limited’s Director of Marketing and Innovation, Anne-Joy Michira, emphasized the festival’s role in supporting young entrepreneurs.
“As we celebrate this year’s Oktobafest, we remain deeply committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. This year, through this festival, we will seek to support young vendors, entrepreneurs, and artists, helping them gain profit and exposure and a springboard to thrive in their respective fields. By giving these talented individuals a platform to shine, we are not only nurturing creativity but also fostering economic growth.” Michira stated.
Last year, Oktoba Fest provided a platform for several small businesses to showcase and sell their products to the over 22,000 fans who attended the festival.
Green and Sustainable Festival
In addition to economic growth, Oktoba Fest 2023 aims to promote environmental sustainability with a reduced carbon footprint. All while aiming to become the region’s first sustainable festival. Initiatives such as waste management, recycling, and sustainable practices will ensure a greener and more responsible festival experience.
OktobaFest 2023 is set to be a monumental celebration of East African culture, bringing people together to savor the region’s unique flavor, sounds, and traditions.
