Last weekend was one of the busiest event weekends Nairobi has had in 2019. One event that caught our attention in terms of attendance and organization was the Tricia’s Natural Hair Health and Beauty Festival that happened on Saturday at Kilimani Primary School.

Beauty events, and more so natural hair events are always a hit in Nairobi. The crowd – mostly women – turn up is always impressive and full of amazing vibes. Perhaps it’s the idea of having a fun day where you meet people with similar interests, have great fun, sample products, shop and even learn more about something you are passionate about.

The inaugural event hosted by Ashanti Naturals certainly had a lot to offer natural beauty enthusiasts. Those who attended got to attend expert masterclasses, boot camps, brand activations, makeovers, giveaways and spend part of their day listening to jams from Dj Coco Em.

The masterclass sessions included life skills for women of all ages, including teenagers on self defence and self care. How cool is that?! The self defence masterclass was taught by sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) consultant Emily Aluoch, while self care was facilitated by Sister Speaks 254/ Heels4Pads who have been doing great work across the country. Check them out HERE.

Some of the brands at the event included Maybelline, Dark and Lovely, Marini, Mahogany Organics, Biw Biw, T44z, Vatika, Mikalla, Saru, Posh Palace, Melvins Tea and many more. East African Millennial Woman’s media platform Kali Media were also at the event and captured the vibrant day adequately on their IG.
