Trevor Ombija Comes Under Fire After His Restaurant Defence Amid Crackdown

Famous Citizen TV anchor Trevor Ombija has found himself at the butt of every joke on social media following his restaurant’s defence.

Ombija was speaking during a meeting between bar and restaurant owners and residents in Kileleshwa, where the first whistle-blowers initially stemmed from.

The newsman was captured on video defending his popular restaurant Samaki Samaki Seafood and Jazz restaurant but what caught netizens’ attention was his suggestion that they would soundproof the neighbours houses instead of his joint.

This comes amid rampant bar closures where the Nairobi County Liquor Board has cancelled the operation licenses of 43 entertainment joints following noise complaints from residents.

Ombija argued that whereas some of the concerns were genuine, some of the residents intentionally rejected feasible solutions and resorted to blackmail.

“I have a neighbour who wanted us to shut down because I did not give her a landscaping job.”

“We reduced our volume completely all other neighbours were ok with our attempts, except her so I offered to go the extra mile of soundproofing as a last resort she still refused,” he stated.

The video was first shared by Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, criticizing Ombija’s words.

Ombija has been trending at number one on Twitter following his comments. Below are some of Kenyans’ reactions.
