Craft Beer is not something that immediately springs to mind when we think of Nairobi. Consensus is usually that Europe and North America have a far more mature scene.
But we are quickly catching up – and a global trip to discover the world’s best brews touched down in the city recently – the only African leg of the tour, championed by the Four Points by Sheraton group.
The Best Brews Around the World tour was looking to celebrate the brand’s signature initiative, in which each of the brand’s hotels across the world showcases a local craft beer chosen based on taste, popularity as well as quality.
Simple? Not quite.
Craft beers have personality – and for that reason, narrowing things down to just one can be a daunting task
Four Points in collaboration with the Big Five Breweries took us through a day of activities designed to showcase not only the beer on offer, but also the spirit of adventure and possibilities – including a chopper ride over some of Nairobi’s most scenic spots. That was pretty epic.
And the trail was not complete without a stop over at the latest Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Nairobi – a gorgeous addition to the JKIA and its environs – and one that will almost certainly be a favorite for leisure and business travelers alike.
Cue dinner, a few competitions (my team won the quiz round) – and a bunch of new friends – the Brew Trail was worth every minute.
