Sometimes the most difficult part of getting started is just that – getting started. Whether it’s pursuing a class, finding a specialist tutor or getting together a reasonable amount of money that will allow you to pursue whatever it is that’s wreaking havoc with your heart and soul.
Accomplished musicians such as Sauti Sol’s Fancy Fingers, Octopizzo, Wangechi, Phy and Blinky Bill understand this and want to help a few really passionate budding young stars get their feet off the ground and start playing – all this through the offer of a chance to win a FREE guitar in what I feel is a super fresh competition.
And the rules are simple:
Get your phone and record yourself doing whatever it is you do best, musically. Whether that’s singing, playing the flute – or I would assume, mouthing your way through one of the tunes from the Formation album.
Following that, leave it to the gods of Social Media to give it the thumbs up – all the while tagging the artists themselves to make sure they get to see your brilliance also.
To make sure you stand the greatest chance of being seen across the board by those are NOT your minions, use the hashtag #50GuitarsKE
The whole aim of the game is the provide access to music for those who may be struggling to get in – so pass on the message about what sounds genuinely like an exciting contest.
The guitars that are up for grabs are from the CORT range, which hours of online research (ahem, Google) has taught me are all about quality construction at an attainable price point and it’s range of options means there is something for every single player out there.
And there have already been a few entries in the hours since he posted up the competition:

#50GuitarsKE is a charitable initiative that is looking to reward 50 young Kenyans this month. All it takes is 30 seconds. The competition ends on the 20th of March – good luck!
Follow the artists on their personal social media pages for further details on the competition as it progresses.
