The Guinness Smooth “Made with a Kenyan Touch” Launch

Guinness has been a beer brand that Kenyans have enjoyed since the 60’s. 

The new and distinctive Guinness Smooth was produced by the local brewing team in Kenya; working closely with the international brewers in Dublin, where the stout is originally from. The result is s a distinctive, flavourful beer with the perfect balance of sweet and bitter to achieve smoothness and refreshment that everyone can enjoy.

Last weekend social media was a buzz with images of a some well known online personalities next to and inside a Guinness branded plane enroute to Kisumu for the show stopping launch.

Mr. Kennedy Mwangi, Head Brewer, Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) says, “Guinness Smooth is brewed using only the finest natural ingredients, many of which are sourced locally.  With the coffee and rich notes from the roasted barley marrying with a fruity, butterscotch flavour from the brewing process, Guinness Smooth is truly unique.”

Dublin based brewer, Peter Simpson, who has worked with the local team comments: “I am passionate about developing character-led, flavourful beers so it has been great to work collaboratively with local brewers Mr. Kennedy Mwangi and Mr. Peter Oduor here in Kenya.

The local brewers added their expertise on what would make the new recipe a heat for Kenyans.

Ms. Nduku Wamakau, Guinness Marketing Director Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) shared that the launches will be in Kisimu first with a wide range of sampling opportunities. “If you’re looking for something delicious and refreshing to enjoy when you’re out catching up with friends, give Guinness Smooth a try.” she added.
