Super Sema has been nominated for NAACP awards.
The YouTube original series had been nominated in the outstanding animated series category.
Announcing the news, the show shared;
“Big news!!! Please join us in celebrating Super Sema’s nomination for outstanding animated series from the NAACP Image awards.”
Super Sema
Super Sema is Africa’s first animated superhero series for children.
It follows the story of a young girl living in an African village with her brother and grandfather, she becomes a local superhero thanks to her ingenuity and STEM skills.
The show premiered in partnership with YouTube Originals on International Women’s Day in March.
The cast incudes Stacie Waweru and Claudia Llyod and Lupita Nyong’o.
Sharing the news as well, Lupita Tweeted;

NAACP Image Awards 2022
The NAACP ( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ) Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented in the U.S to honor outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature.
The award ceremony and winners will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 2022 on BET Network.
