2017 was a phenomenal year for our notable international rap export Stella Mwangi aka STL. The multi-talented Kenyan-Norwegian’s self-titled EP containing 5 tracks received some astounding international attention from sitcoms to shoe brands.
For 2018 Stella is back to dropping new music and from a fan standpoint, she is reeling fire. The first single of what could be a possible EP is F.I.L (Fall In Love). The Afropop jam features Norwegian singer Alexandra Rotan.
Stella has mastered the art of fusing her Hip Hop lyrical flow on any type of instrumental. On this record F.I.L (which sounds like a sample of Patorankin’s This Kind Love) she has the tempo steady as she sends a message to the potential lover. She narrates a story about who she is as a lover, fiance, wife material and everything a man clamors in women. Alexandra is so smooth on her vocal stretch and delivery which perfectly complements Stella’s fire verses.
The overall jam I’d rate it 8/10 from the production, rap delivery, simple hook and the witty storyline not forgetting the smooth adlibs and background vocals. This is bound to be a club banger and something for the radio.
The jam is released under Stella’s Badili Akili Music outfit and is available on all digital music purchase platforms.
