South African singer Sho Madjozi has also jumped on the Gengetone wave and included a song in her new mixtape “What A Life”.
The singer, who is known for targeting the East Africa music market a lot something that most South African don’t do, finished recording the Gengetone song dubbed “Dihawks”.
Kenyan producer Mike G sent her team the beats and they loved it.
“I thank God so much for the blessings! It’s amazing to get to work with Sho Madjozi and her whole team. It’s great to hear what she did with a Genegtone beat.” Mike G said.
Gengetone, a purely Kenyan genre that we can say is a reincarnation of Genge, hasn’t been getting a lot of love locally majorly because of its vulgar lyrics and scenes.
The style has been banished in almost every corner of the country but that hasn’t slowed its popularity.
Mike G is happy with his recent move and hopes to continue exporting the genre worldwide which will also give Kenyan artists exposure to other prominent genres.
“I can’t wait to hear what other great collaborations are in store for the continent of Africa. Would love to hear Kenyan artists try Amapiano and Ghanaian artists try Kizomba. There is so much we can learn from each other.” He added.
