Game 1 Kenya Vs Argentina

The Kenya Sevens team- Shujaa Pride began their 2017 campaign today on a shaky foot. Shujaa were facing Argentina in the first game of Pool A at 2 am at the Wellington leg of the World Series. Failing to secure a much-needed win, Shujaa lost 15-17 that means just one try short to share the points spoil.

A very technical and quick game, Argentina had their first try by the 3rd minute totaling it to 0-7 with a conversion. A couple of turnovers and lost possessions did not favor Shujaa. Just before the half time break, Argentina sneaked in one more try making the score at 0-12 by break time.

Touchline talk from Coach innocent Simiyu had a spark with the boys once they returned for the second half. Billy Odhiambo made the first try and Sammy Oliech made the conversion to bring the score to 7-12. Willy Ambaka made it to the try list with an impressive run to level the score at 12-12. 2 minutes to time Argentina slipped through the defense and made the rift in scores to 12-17.

Shujaa had a chance to redeem their points standing on this early morning game. Papua is an invitee team on this 3rd leg of the World Series. Collins Injera made his return on this assignment and his experience was heavily relied on.

The very first try came from a creative pass from Injera to Willy Ambaka to make it 5-0. Eden Agero converted it to make it 7-0. The only challenge facing Shujaa was their passing flow in the previous game, but they looked solid against the 5th minute Willy Ambaka skipped two tackles and increased the margin to 12-0. PNG Pulled a swift try on 7th minute but Billy and Agero canceled it out to leave the game at 19-0 at halftime.
