Showmax Reveals Upcoming Show Lineup at Inaugural Industry Mixer

The African streaming giant, Showmax, took center stage at the Kalasha International Film and TV Market, Festival, and Awards. They did so in style, hosting the inaugural Showmax Podcast and Industry Mixer at the KICC.

The exclusive event, led by host Lotan, brought together a who’s who of Kenyan media, actors, and filmmakers.  Familiar faces like Philip Karanja, Wakio Mzenge, George Mo, and Nick Mutuma were spotted mingling alongside international stars such as Emmanuel Ikubese from “Shuga.” Actresses Grace Kahaki, Nini Wacera, and Gathoni Mutua were present.

Beyond the stars, other key film industry figures were present, including the CEO of the Kenyan Film Commission, Mr. Timothy Owase.

The evening wasn’t just about celebrating the present.  Showmax used the event as a platform to unveil its upcoming slate of content, solidifying its commitment to investing in Kenyan film and television. East Africa’s Showmax GM, Emma Gichonge, expressed gratitude for the Kenyan Film Commission’s support while reiterating this commitment.

Later the Kalasha Awards 2024 saw several Showmax Originals such as “The Real Housewives of Nairobi,” and “Pepeta,” win awards.  Other shows on the platform such as “Roast House,” “Salem,” “The Caller,” “The Last Door,” and “Kina” also won at the 13th edition of the Kalasha Awards.
