The last time I had a proper conversation with Charles Ouda – familiar to most of us through his work on stage and screen in Kenya, including hosting Discover 254 with Sarah Hassan – he was pursuing his passion off Broadway in New York City; expanding his talent and earning his stripes in what is an extremely competitive industry. On paper, it looked like a massive gamble – leaving the stability of home to New York – one of the toughest nuts to crack – especially as a foreigner without 5000 network connections. And it was great to see how well he was doing, in spite of what were almost certainly numerous challenges.
But that was then (read up: Charles Ouda’s Star Shines Bright in New York) and this is now. Fast forward a year since our conversation, and Charles is doing the damn thing.
Waiting Room – a brilliant short film he both wrote and directed, was recently named one of the winners at the NYC Indie Awards, sharing the spotlight in the Diamond category with 116 by Julia Campanelli. Check out the full list HERE
