Vlogger Sharon Mundia has revealed that she had to overcome a toxic friend who was also a popular vlogger early in her career.
Mundia, who did not name the female friend, said that she had to build a lot of courage before ditching her because she feared the powerful influencer might end her career.
“It’s okay to let people go or cut them out completely,” she said.
“Recently I was telling a friend about a really toxic friendship that I had at the start of my career in content creation and how it took me forever to walk away from that because I felt she had the power to cancel me in this industry.”

She went on:
“It took me a long time to be comfortable and know that I am my own person and I do not need her approval, and that I can absolutely cut her off and I do not need to have any engagement with her.
“I don’t think it works for everybody and it should not be a solution for everyone. But it is important to know when to cut people off and to be very clear that there are boundaries they don’t need to cross.”
Mundia added that killing the union turned out to be the best thing in her career and even boosted her creativity in the long run.
“It took a minute for me to realise that, but it was one of the most liberating things,” she went on.
“The minute I knew I don’t have to have a relationship with this woman because she was a very mean girl in a sly way.
“By the time I released I do not only admire and respected her, but I was scared about the things she will do and say about me, I was so under her thumb.”
