“Second Family” Season Two To Grace Screens This September

The Kenyan telenovela, “Second Family,” is gearing up for an explosive return with its highly anticipated Season two. The Showmax Original drama series premieres on 14th September with new episodes releasing every Thursday and Friday.

Showrunner Mkamzee Mwatela promises a thrilling ride for viewers as the gripping story continues to unfold. “We’re hoping to leave a trail of fire in this new season. She says”

In Season 2, the telenovela picks up right where it left off. It delves deeper into the relentless battle for control of the EAGC milling company. The stakes have never been higher, especially with the unexpected resurrection of an old patriarch. Meanwhile, the powerful Syndicate, composed of influential businessmen, continues to make audacious moves to safeguard their interests.

The absence of Leo, played by the talented Ian Mbugua, has left a void that wreaks unimaginable havoc on his family and friends. Tehi, fresh out of jail, has to contemplate his next steps as the head of the Gatehi-Langat family, following his sister Gigi’s wedding. Gigi herself, now married to her father’s protégé, Cyrus, is harboring a scandalous secret.

Shei, who has uncovered her true heritage, strives to conceal the truth from her family. On the other hand, Sinde, now in charge of EAGC, is ready to exact her revenge on the Gatehi-Langats, whom she blames for her misfortunes.

However, when tragedy strikes, Leo reemerges from the “dead,” leaving his family and friends in shock. It soon becomes clear that they are dealing with a changed man. This forces them to navigate a maze of new family dynamics and brutal succession battles.

The cast of “Second Family” returns with familiar faces, including Dora Nyaboke as the ever-devilish Evangeline. Nick Ndeda returns as the black sheep of the Gatehi-Langat family, Tehi. Brian Ogola as Evangeline’s ambitious partner in crime, Cyrus, and Vanessa Okeyo as Leo’s once-likely successor, Sinde. The ensemble also includes Mumbi Maina, Stephanie Muchiri, Brian Abajah, Serah Wanjiru, Lewis Leshan, Florence Nduta, Derek Bbanga, Joyce Musoke, Sheila Ndanu, and Mary Mwikali.

What makes Season 2 of “Second Family” truly exciting is the “sharp change of direction” from its predecessor, according to showrunner Mkamzee Mwatela. She further shares her enthusiasm for the character development, saying, “We’re throwing challenges at the characters and watching them respond. They’re real people to us now, and all of them are struggling so hard just to get through life, sometimes just to get through the day.”

Mwatela also hints at the characters making questionable decisions that might leave viewers yelling at their screens. Additionally, new and intriguing characters will be introduced to keep the storyline fresh and unpredictable.

“Second Family” Season 2 is produced by Live Eye TV and directed by Edwin Kamau and King Muriuki. With its return on Showmax, fans can look forward to a rollercoaster of drama, intrigue, and suspense as the saga of the Gatehi-Langat family continues to unfold.
