Sauti Sol to Play Global Citizen Festival in Central Park

There’s a lot going on in New York City this week: Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, was here today, parading through Manhattan, visiting local churches and speaking to the United Nations. Tomorrow no one else than Sauti Sol, our beloved Afro-pop act, will be performing before thousands at the Global Citizens Festival in Central Park.

The festival, which is expected to draw more than 48,000 people, will also see performances by musical giants like Beyonce, Pearl Jam and Coldplay. The performances follow today’s historic realization of UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development, which were signed by 193 world leaders and contains promises to fight poverty and improve the environment on a global plane.

The organizers consider erasing extreme poverty across the world by 2030 one of its many goals. Tickets are free but are only distributed to people who take part in the fight against extreme poverty. Find out more about the requirements here.

The organizers have chosen to not release exact set times, but if you have the privilege to attend this amazing event, make sure to stick around for Sauti Sol. It will be worth it.
