Sauti Sol Set To Perform Alongside John Legend, Bruno Mars In Upcoming Essence Festival

Celebrated Kenyan music band Sauti Sol, is set to share a platform with global sensations John Legend and Bruno Mars in the upcoming Essence Festival.

Essence, a popular American magazine had earlier this year canceled the show and refunded fans for their tickets as a result of the COVID-19 impact. However, Just like the other festivals and events in the entertainment industry, Essence Festival organizers opted for virtual performance and coverage.

The festival organizers through the official website have promised their audience a 2 week back to back weekend of refreshing entertaining and empowering performances in the event scheduled for June25-28 & July 2-6.

The Essence Festival 2020 virtual concert will feature other segments on health, wealth, and power among other themes.

Sauti Sol who recently released their album ‘Midnight Train’ revealed their excitement ahead of the festival describing it as an honorable opportunity to be listed among the headlining artists.

“It’s an honour to play alongside these great names. This is gonna be a very special virtual experience for the black culture” Sauti Sol wrote

This will not be the first time the pop band is performing for the Essence crown considering that they were also among the artists who performed in the 2019 Essence Festival.

According to Sauti Sol, this gave them a chance to meet American songwriter India Arie who they later featured in ‘My Everything’ off their album Midnight Train.

“Last year was epic and we’re grateful for the opportunity. That’s actually the time we met @indiaarie (at the airport) on our way to @essencefest and fast-forward we made a beautiful track together on our new album #MidnightTrain tiltled “My Everything” which is out now.

Here’s to another year, another chance to play for the #Essence crowd. It’s gonna be a very special virtual experience for the black culture. ” they wrote

Other artists on the line up include Diamond Platnumz, Burna Boy, Chronixx, Damian Marley, Amanda Black, and others.
