Sauti Sol Joins Yemi Alade in Coke Studio Mashup

Coke Studio Africa aired the first episode of its third season this Sunday and from the looks of it, we have some great things to look forward to.

Our world travelers and increasingly popular afro-pop act Sauti Sol teamed up with Nigeria’s BET award-winning singer Yemi Alade and created a fervid mashup of Sauti’s recently released “Shake Yo Bam Bam” and Alade’s “Temperature.”

Award-winning Nigerian producer Cobhams Asuquo was selected to produce the mashup – a concept that Coke Studio is premiering this season.

“Following the success of the first two seasons, we are excited to introduce the new mash up format as a core element of season three, supported by multi-talented artistes and a world class production team,” Coca Cola’s Strategic Marketing Manager Vivian Achieng told Citizen Global recently.

“It’s the most organic mashup I’ve heard in my life,” said Sauti’s singer Bien-Aime Baraze when first introduced to the song. “It’s just too good.”

Alade concurred.

“I’m really, really excited,” the 26-year-old singer said. “The mashup is beautiful. It’s like they don’t even need us to perform it anymore. The song is just good to go.”

Coke Studio’s third season will feature 27 artists from across the continent that will collaborate to produce over 54 mashups.
