Sarova Hotels Celebrate 50 Years In Kenya

Sarova Hotels & Resorts, Kenya’s foremost indigenous hospitality brand, has commemorated its 50th anniversary in the industry.

The significant milestone underscores fifty years of unparalleled service, resilience, and an enduring commitment to excellence.

Reflecting on this historic occasion, Jimi Kariuki, Managing Director of Sarova Hotels & Resorts, remarked, “Today, we come together not only to mark a milestone but to celebrate a journey defined by resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence in hospitality.”

“Our half-century in operation epitomizes progress, innovation, and a steadfast dedication that defines Sarova Hotels & Resorts,” he added.

Dr. Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, commended Sarova Hotels and Resorts on reaching their 50th anniversary, recognizing their substantial contribution as the leading indigenous brand in the hospitality sector.

Dr. Mutua emphasized the critical importance of upholding high-quality standards in tourism, emphasizing its status as a top government priority. He stressed that enhancing the quality of tourism experiences is crucial for attracting more visitors and nurturing industry growth.

He underscored the importance of catering to the demands of modern travelers, who increasingly prioritize value and quality, to ensure Kenya’s tourism offerings remain competitive.

By aligning with these demands and consistently delivering exceptional experiences, hotels like Sarova play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall tourism landscape and fostering sustainable growth in the sector.

“Today we provide hotel management services to other esteemed properties such as Sarova Mara Game Camp since 1984, Sarova Woodlands Hotel & Spa since 2017 and Sarova Imperial Hotel Kisumu since 2022.

“We also have a brand franchise agreement with Maiyan Resort, now branded Sarova Maiyan Resort Nanyuki.

“Our evolution continued with the launch of our first specialty restaurant, Thai Chi by Sarova, in Nairobi, in 2023, an extension of Thai Chi Restaurant at Sarova Stanley,” Kariuki added.

Established in April 1974 with the inauguration of the Ambassador Hotel in Nairobi, Sarova Hotels & Resorts has evolved into a renowned hospitality powerhouse with nine distinguished properties under its banner, collectively offering 1,165 guest bedrooms.

From its humble beginnings, the company has expanded, embraced innovation, and remained steadfast in its commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Throughout its five-decade journey, Sarova Hotels & Resorts has not only expanded its portfolio to nine properties nationwide but has also diversified its business model to include hotel management services, strategic partnerships, and the launch of standalone specialty restaurants.
