Jamaican dancehall and reggae singer and Roc Nation signee Mark Anthony Myrie, popularly known as Buju Banton, is set to perform in Mombasa on December 31.
Buju, who was released from jail and inked a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, will be in the country for the performance which is believed to be an extension of Buju Banton’s ‘Long Walk To Freedom Tour’, which began on March 16 in Kingston, Jamaica. The singer was in prison for 10 years after he was arrested on drug charges
Roc Nation is an American entertainment agency founded by musician and entrepreneur Jay-Z in 2009. The partnership with Buju Banton was declared on November 22, 2019, and marked by the release of their new video for the song “Steppa.”
Not much about the concert is out other than him being confirmed for the end of year party.
Banton’s illustrious career, which dates back to the late 1980s, includes breaking multiple sales and chart records in Jamaica and collaborating with U.S. stars such as John Legend, DJ Khaled, and Fat Joe.
