Red Bull Dance Your Style Shakes Up Mombasa and Launches TikTok Auditions

Premier dance competition “Red Bull Dance Your Style” made a vibrant stop in Mombasa at the scenic Mama Ngina Waterfront, marking a significant event in its nationwide tour. The usually tranquil town came alive with energy, attracting a considerable crowd of dance enthusiasts and community members. The highlight of the event was the intense battle sessions, where Mohammed Mkuta triumphed as the winner. Bill Wamala secured the first runner-up position.

Reflecting on his victory, Mohammed Mkuta shared, “I’m thrilled to have won today and gained support from the majority of the fans. This victory has boosted my momentum to clinch the championship at the national finals.” He added, “Red Bull Dance Your Style has been a game-changer, constantly rooting for the dance community in Mombasa. With this competition held every year, dancers take their time to prepare and eventually show up and show out.”

In a bid to elevate the competition, Red Bull Dance Your Style is leveraging the power of TikTok to tap into the dynamic dance movement on social media. Dancers across Kenya can showcase their moves in a 30-second video on their TikTok accounts, tagging @RedBullKenya and using the hashtag #RedBullDanceYourStyle. The top two videos with the most engagement will earn a spot in the national finals.

Red Bull Dance Your Style Upcoming Events

The next stops for Red Bull Dance Your Style include, the USIU Qualifier in Nairobi set to take place on June 15, 2024. Afterward, the official Nairobi competition will take place on July 13, 2024. Lastly, the grand finals are scheduled to take place in Nairobi on August 10, 2024. According to the organizers, the grand finals will feature the top two winners from each qualifier, culminating in an ultimate dance battle. The winner of the grand finals will represent Kenya at the world finals in Mumbai, India.

Red Bull Dance Your Style is a global competition involving participants from 51 countries. Kenya’s ultimate champion will win an all-expenses-paid trip to India for the World Finals in November. Unique to this competition, there are no judges—the crowd decides the winner by voting with blue or red placards after each battle. Dancers should bring their best in creativity, freestyle, and musicality, adapting to unpredictable music played by the DJ. All urban dance styles are welcomed, except break dancing.
