The entertainment industry is in mourning following the tragic news of the passing of actor/comedian Duncan Ochonjo. It is indeed a sad day for his colleagues and comrades as they come to terms with the loss of a talented and beloved actor. Duncan was admitted to the hospital on May 3rd, 2023, and sadly passed away a week later on May 10th at 2am.
According to actress Sandra Dacha, he suffered a short illness that took him away unexpectedly. Sandra, in a long Instagram post, mourned the passing of her colleague, whom she also referred to as a close friend. Through another video, Ms.Dacha courageously disclosed the details surrounding Ochonjo’s untimely passing. A relative of the deceased confirmed to a media outlet that Mr. Ochonjo succumbed to liver-related complications and kidney failure.
Duncan was a popular filmmaker who collaborated with fellow comedians Mike Wako and Onsongo to produce well-loved skits posted online which fans and critics called infectious. He has also made appearances in popular Kenyan shows such as “Kalausi,” “Inspector Mwala”, “Mazagazaga”, “Njoro Wa Uba” and “Vashita.” At the time of his passing, Mr. Ochonjo had an acting role on Ramogi’s TV sitcom Nyar Kochia.
His sudden demise has left his fans and colleagues in shock and disbelief. They are remembering him as a funny, warm, and generous person who always brought a smile to their faces.
