Last Friday Red Bull Music Academy was in Nairobi for an information session on how to apply for the Academy. Later that night Red Bull music Academy teamed up with Kenya Nights and threw an awesome club night. After skipping 2017, Red Bull Music Academy has announced that the 2018 edition of their month-long workshop will take place in Berlin. In recent years, the Academy has taken place in Tokyo, New York, Melbourne, Cape Town, Paris, São Paulo and Montréal. The 2018 edition will mark Red Bull Music Academy’s 20th anniversary.
The Academy offers new insights and perspectives on sound as artistes representing different genres, countries and eras come together. In 2018, 60 up-and-coming musicians will be selected and flown to Berlin to embark on a life changing creative journey.
The Academy also publishes an annual compilation of music produced at the respective last edition entitled ‘Various Assets – Not For Sale’. Listen to last year’s compilation here.
In addition to the annual main event, the Academy traverses the globe all year long: popping up for club nights, concerts, radio broadcasts, workshops and curated stages at top-flight festivals.
Applications for next year are open and will close on September 4. You must submit 30 minutes of original music through their online portal. For more information check out the Red bull Music Academy website.
