Jojo Abot, held a live show at The Alchemist on Thursday night. The night turned into a creative fusion of talent between East and West. Ghanaian acts Bbrave, Rocky Dawuni and Noella Wiyaala met Kenyan acts Blinky Bill, EA Wave and Mix Master Lenny.
Blinky Bill played some new music off his upcoming project. He also played some favorites to get the crowd moving. Muthoni DQ who was also in attendance joined him on stage spitting lines from their new hot song.
Grammy nominated Rocky Dawuni, on a short stop over before heading to Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar, came up next and gave us a little preview of what to expect from his show coming up on the 18th February also at the Alchemist.
Jojo Abot is a member of New Museum’s incubator program, NEW INC, in New York. She is preparing to go on tour with the legend, Ms Lauryn Hill later this year. Jojo also has upcoming shows slated for Summerstage and Global Fest. She came on stage and transformed the entire venue into a hypnotic otherworldly experience.
Jojo Abot invited all the acts from the night for a little freestyle session. Blinky Bill, Rocky Dawuni, Noella Wiyaala were joined by Muthoni the Drummer Queen and Fena.
Ghanaian Bbrave came up next and dropped some West African sound scapes.
Finally, Mix Master Lenny wrapped up the show with some hip hop vibes characteristic of his dope show Any Given Thursday that runs every Thursday at The Alchemist, you should definitely check it out if you haven’t.
