Kenyan-born English actress Yvonne Grundy has made her debut in a popular animation “Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! The movie”.
The movie, released on July 20, is about a locomotive (Thomas) traveling around the world, across deserts, through jungles and meeting new friends in the process.
Grundy plays Nia in the movie, a Kenyan tank engine who befriends and accompanies Thomas during his journey around the world.
The character “Nia” comes from an actual Kenyan steam engine of class 2-6-2 tank locomotive built by Vulcan Foundry for the Kenya-Uganda Railway between 1926 and 1930.
Nia is a soothing voice of reason for Thomas every time the blue locomotive believes he can accomplish great feats on his own or without any help. Addition voice from Patricia Kihoro has also been used under the character.
The movie has been directed by David Stoten who is known for animations such as “Space Jam” and “Charlie and Lola”.
It stars famous names such as Dona Adwera, Peter Andre, Richie Campbell among others. Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! The Movie is 85 minutes long.
