#OwnYourCulture: Natural Hair, Fashion And Beauty Festival Comes To Nairobi

The ‘natural hair wave’ has been here for a minute – and it seems apt: embracing our culture and our diversity is something that we should have been embracing for eons.

Enter the “Hairitage Chronicles” – set for this weekend at the Ngong Racecourse.

This year’s theme is #Ownyourculture and is looking to promote, preserve and celebrate beauty, traditional jewelry, art, fashion and stories in Kenya and around Eastern Africa.

And fittingly for many of us, given our connection with the brand since childhood, its main sponsor is Dark and Lovely Africa.

The event has lined up a number of activities that includes “a seat a table” that will feature different personalities speaking about different topics that touches hair, beauty, fashion, fitness.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Wambui June and Tabitha Tongoi a natural hair whisperer under the brand name Craving yellow.  The Panel team includes: Bevern Oguk a fashion designer behind the fashion label Cobe_nairobi, Eddie Kirindo an award winning style maven , visual studio owner and fashion content creator, Brian Babu a leading celebrity stylist, Wachu Wanjaria a leading natural hair stylist behind Kurlly Diaries & Jay Cee, a guru in natural hair and admin at Tricia’s Naturals.

The event will also see a live photo shoot by Eve Woman stylist  Lucy Robi.

Nurtured Knotts, leading the event, was founded with the aim of curating unique experiences that connect women and men of color with some of the best brands in Kenya on matters hair, beauty, fashion, fitness and the arts.
