The 6th annual Madaraka Festival is bound to be a landmark event as it will be held in Kisumu city. Going down on the 3rd of August, the magnificent lush green lawns of Kisumu beach will be the location for the festival.
The acts performing reflect a blend of Kenyan and diaspora sounds with artists drawn from across different genres. They include, rapper Khaligraph Jones, legendary femcee Nazizi, the eclectic soulful R&B singer Karun, soulful singer-songwriter Bensoul, music collective Nairobi Horns Project.
Also, American rapper Mazzi & Soul Purpose, rapper Nafsi Huru, sensational Ohangla artist Musa Jakadalla, music trio CBK Music, One Vibe Band and DJs: Kriss Darling and Suraj will be present. Comedian Eric Omondi will be the main host of the festival, alongside with MC Jakakamega and MC Mbom.
Event Founder and Executive Director of One Vibe Africa, Simon Okelo explained: “Now more than ever, youth in Kenya are in need of the artistic encouragement and experiences offered by One Vibe Africa. This is why we decided to bring the Festival to Kisumu for the first time”.
One Vibe Africa is a grassroots, Seattle-based nonprofit that creates cultural and innovative programs and events to promote social welfare and economic empowerment for youth in the Manyatta slum of Kisumu, Kenya.
