OktobaFest Enthralls Fans In Kisumu Over The Weekend

East Africa’s premier beer festival Tusker OktobaFest kicked off in Kenya in Kisumu over the weekend. The action went down at the Black Pearl Lounge & Grill in Kisumu entertaining revelers from the lakeside city and its neighboring counties.

Marketed as one of the grandest celebrations of Kenyan culture featuring beer, entertainment, food, fashion, arts, and music, OktobaFest lived up to its reputation. Headlining acts Ndovu Kuu, Khaligraph, and Maandy Kabaya Jones had the crowd enthralled, singing along to their hits throughout the night.

In addition to the live music, businesses in the lakeside town witnessed a surge in customer activity across various sectors including transport, hospitality, and services. Around the event venue, bodaboda riders and food vendors expressed their gratitude for the influx of customers.

Maurice Otieno, a bodaboda rider from Nyamasaria, shared, “In the midst of Kenya’s ongoing economic challenges, the business opportunities stemming from OktobaFest are truly valued. As bodaboda riders, we are thankful. Any day we can earn something to take home is a good day.”

Furthermore, Catherine Twesigye, Tusker Brand Manager, reflected on the optimism surrounding OktobaFest East Africa this year. She stated, “Kisumu truly showcased its cultural richness and impact, felt from the fish-selling ladies to the business operators around the venue. I am deeply grateful to the Kisumu crowd for their overwhelming support this weekend. Next weekend, the Tusker OktobaFest will make its debut in Naivasha, where we eagerly anticipate tapping into Rift Valley culture.”

This year’s OktobaFest aims to build upon the success of the highly acclaimed 2022 event. It also expands its reach to East African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan. The OktobaFest caravan takes the next party to Party Island, Naivasha on the 6th & 7th of October 2023. To attend OktobaFest, attendees can purchase four Kenya Breweries Limited family beers for KES 1000 at the gate.
