Njugush On Rejecting Coveted Kiss FM Job: ‘It Wasn’t Right Fit’

While a majority of entertainers in Kenya would kill to be a top presenter on Kiss 100 FM, comedian Njugush rejected the offer because of several reasons.

Speaking in an interview with NairobiNews, the comedian surprised many after revealing that in 2022 he was approached by the station for the job but had to turn down the offer because of time constraints.

“There was that time in 2022 Kiss FM wanted to hire me but it didn’t work out. There was that suggestion but the particular segment didn’t work out because of a few issues. Majorly it was because of time,” he said.

The year 2022 is when the station hired Oga Obina whose contract has just ended. It’s not clear, however, whether the station had approached Njugush first for the same position.

The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) alumnae said radio has always been his first love since his days in college and hopes that he’ll still get a chance one day to host.

Other reasons why Njugush had to turn down the offer are because of how abrupt his schedule can be and the fact that he believes his brand should be comedy first.

“I love radio very much. The main problem is the time they wanted me for the show,” he said.

“If you are on radio, you will just let the opportunity pass yet those people won’t understand that you are on radio. As freelancers, any job counts and they are not regular. Big or even the smallest radio station but I will make it there. Soon, you might hear me on a radio near you,” he said.
