New film ‘Soko Sonko’ from director Ekwa Msangi-Omari to premiere at New York African Film Festival

Save the date folks! Director Ekwa Msangi-Omari is back with a new short film ‘SOKO SONKO’ (The Market King) 

The film which is centered around its main character Kabibi, whose dad takes her to the market to her hair braided instead of her mother because she’s sick. A fish out water, this well-intentioned dad goes on a roller coaster of a journey where no man has gone before ….. because only women have been there.

Soko Sonko will be making its world premiere at The New York African Film Festival at The Walter Reade Theater, Lincoln Center and has two screening dates: Thursday May 8th at 2pm and Sunday May 11th at 3.30pm.
