Music bands have been there since time in memorial. Despite the drama that has been associated with music bands such as nasty breakups that leave fans high and dry, more and more music bands continue to emerge with each day.
Music Bands in Kenya have come and go but below are some new edge bands whose divine musical melodies will uplift your soul in this cold weather.
This band is signed to Sauti Sol’s Record Label, Sol Generation. It is comprised of Eugine Ywaya (vocals/guitar), Israel Onyach (vocals/bass/guitar) and Chris Clave (vocals/guitar/keyboard). The trio studied music at the Sauti Academy Music School, then were later signed to Sol Generation. Their music genre is mainly Afro-Fusion blended with RnB and Soul.
They are currently working on their debut album and their latest release from this Album is If I Had Your Number.
They are hands down the best song covers making group in the country right now. The group is comprised of six musicians namely: Chep, Lena, Mella, Riki, Sam, and Ythera. This team was put together after they met at the 2018 Safaricom Twaweza Live Tour as background vocalists performing for various artistes.
Currently, they do background vocals for artistes and composers in live events and studio recordings – song covers and mash-up also feature in their repertoire.
This is an Alternative Music duo of Brian Ochieng and Eugene Okumu. Their sound is different and refreshing. The two met at Maranda High School and went on to pursue a music career together after school. Their music career boasts of successes such as lucrative record deals with Pine Creek Records and Sony Africa.
They recently released their debut album Let’s pretend which features tracks such as Take and Go, Burning Man and Orgy among others.
Halisi The Band
This is an Afropop trio that is comprised of Gavin Leting (Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter), Lucky Meysoy (Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter) and Elly Sings (Vocalist, Singer and Songwriter). This band is one of the most underrated bands in Kenya and their immense talent is undoubted. They write very beautiful love songs that should probably feature in your wedding playlist.
The group which met in 2015 recently released their latest project called ‘Ipambe.’
