The Launch Of Nairobi Wine Week Draws A Huge Turnout (IMAGES)

Perhaps it’s our genuine thirst for something different to do on a weekend, but the kick off to this year’s Nairobi Wine Week was lit!

I expected a decent number of people to come through for the first two editions held over the course of Saturday and Sunday at J’s Fresh Bar in Westlands, but it was so packed, that getting to the actual wine tasting required some perseverance – not to mention determination!

The vibe was so laid back, that I’ll be surprised if this doesn’t become a regular fixture in Nairobi’s annual calendar – sampling dozens of wine from across the world, Eat Out in conjunction with Baraka Israel have really elevated the concept of what a ‘wine crowd’ is. Fashion was popping, the food on offer via J’s bar was pretty good, but above all, the atmosphere was perfect for a weekend in Nairobi.

Wine Week itself will be taking place across a number of establishments and eateries across the city including Artcaffe, Newscafe, Sankara and Boho Eatery – restaurants will be hosting wine tasting and food pairing events throughout the week, with various offers on selected wines.

Eatout has also teamed up with Jumia Food to offer a 20 percent discount on selected wines throughout the week.
