The amazing live music showcase event is back again at the Goethe Institute in Nairobi. Women In Music is a regular platform for young women to showcase their stage performance skills through regular live shows. It typically features two or three performers staging an acoustic performance of their songs.
This Friday, two amazing Afro-Soul acts will hit the stage for a candid and intimate display of talent for the fans. The versatile acts Wambura Mitaru and Kendi Nkonge will share the stage for the very first time.
Singer and songwriter Wambura Mitaru is the first female recipient of a full-ride scholarship under the Africa Scholars Program at Berklee College of Music, Boston MA, U.S., a near impossible task for anyone who was tone-deaf.
Wambura has rapidly risen to become a powerful vocalist, with adept songwriting abilities and music production skills. She has penned and arranged soulful hits on Just A Band’s sophomore album 82, Mala, for U.S based Afropop singer Sara Mitaru, and ghostwritten the theme song for Kenya’s major motion picture Leo, performed by Sauti Sol.
Kendi Nkonge is a soulful singer who loves to tell stories through her art. She has been singing from a tender age of five and perfected the talent in church. She has been mentored by the Jamhuri sessions crew and exposed to other artists.
So make your way to Goethe Institute this Friday and get a different set of acoustic vibe. Gate charge is Ksh500.
