Cosmic_Homies – an experimental Nairobi-based music collective – has been confirmed for the prestigious South by Southwest music festival in Texas.
The band, comprising TAIO, Marushka, Kiwango and Runkah, independently released their first single, “Think This Thru,” to glowing reviews in 2015. Cosmic_Homies’ sound incorporates influences spanning from Funk and Soul to Hip-Hop and Tribal, leading to the quartet garnering a “growing community of supporters” appointing them “potential torchbearers for an Afro-futuristic hip-hop sound,” according to South by Southwest’s website.
South by Southwest takes place in Austin throughout the month of March and an exact date for the Homies’ gig has yet to be announced. In the meantime, enjoy their mesmerizing first single here:
