Comedian Eric Omondi has clarified his meeting with devolution cabinet secretary, Hon Eugen Wamalwa saying it wasn’t political but purely about creatives.
The meeting, which happened three weeks ago, was to see how the ministry can work with entertainers. The comedian said that he was supposed to meet with Wamalwa a few days ago but because of his busy schedule, they’ll meet this Thursday.
“Honorable Wamalwa has been busy since he recently traveled with the president but he sent me a text asking when we are meeting and he sounded super enthusiastic,” Omondi said.
At a time when creatives are being attacked for meeting with politicians, Omondi insists his meeting had nothing to do with politics but was done for creatives.
“Whenever Kenyans see you with either Ruto or Raila the conversation become political. But my meeting with CS Wamalwa to be more of government based meeting and not political. ” He said.
“Wamalwa wants to meet with members from the entire creative industry, from comedians to artists to actors.”
Rapper Khaligraph Jones was criticized by fans and fellow artists last week after meeting with DP William Ruto. Jones led several artists in the talks with DP on how government can cushion creatives during this pandemic.
