More Kenyan YouTube Content Creators Receive Play Buttons

Several Kenyan youtubers got to shine yesterday at The YouTube Creator Awards held by Google for Kenya. This was the second edition of the award ceremony and it went down at Movenpick Hotel in Westlands. The event was graced by various content creators, government officials, media representatives and industry enthusiasts.

YouTube normally recognizes content creators on its platform who gain 100,000 subscribers (silver creator award), 1 million subscribers (Gold Creator Award), 10 million subscribers (Diamond Creator Award), 50 million subscribers (Red Diamond Creator Award) etc. This is usually done by awarding these creators with various play buttons depending on the number of subscribers they have.

Popular content creators Sharon Waniz, Alex Mathenge, Wabosha Maxine, Timeless Noel, MCA Tricky, Khaligraph Jones, King Kaka, Bahati, WaJesus Family and Joanna Kinuthia were awarded with a Silver Play Button each at the event.

The Gold creator play button was awarded to Churchill Show, the stand up comedy channel currently boasts of 1.07M subscribers and is the second channel in Kenya to receive this prestigious play button after Citizen TV.

Past Play Button winners include Njugush, Nyashinski, KTN News Real House Helps of Kawangware, and Africha Entertainment.
