Veteran gospel artist Mercy Masika is the latest celebrity to dive into the fashion industry with her fashion line dubbed Masi Wear.
During an interview with Switch TV’s Mwikali on Full Circle, Mercy Masika officially lauched her fashion line and even had a stream of models walk the run way showcasing the pieces available.
Talking to Mwikali, Masika revealed the motivation behind the idea and said that it dates all the way back to the ‘Bold-and-beautiful’ days.
“I have been dreaming about this all my life. My initial inspiration came from a show I used to watch, ‘The bold and the beautiful, where I’d see how they used to sketch, and I picked that. So every book of mine I would sketch something. From primary school, all the way to high school. Then later in life, I decided that I should just do everything I wanted to do from when I was a baby. This is part of a dream come true.”
Being a gospel artist, the award-winning artist revealed that she has incorporated her Christian way of life within the pieces.
“Every one of our clothes represents the gospel of who I am. We have beautiful scriptures on every piece, stuff that will encourage you and its beautiful, decent and classy,” she said.
Speaking about the initial onset of the dream, Mercy said, “I think I am one of those people who always has something on the phone that I’m looking at, and in my free time I would always be looking at other designs, and let them fit into my own way of what I want.”
The ‘Shule Yako’ crooner revealed that she got motivation to drop the line when she was walking in USA wearing her first design and got stopped all over by women asking for referrals.
