“You can’t wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club” – Jack London
It’s a path that many have followed – allowing their love for art to show them the way, instead of waiting for a moment of inspiration to illuminate their path.
Yvonne Bulimo is no stranger to the 254 – the former host of one of Kenya’s most successful TV shows Tujuane, she finessed her love for fashion and styling into a bona-fide brand; a brand that represents the mindset of many young women both within the 254 as well as in the Diaspora.
Zoezi Sport was founded out of Yvonne’s love for fitness and a need to kit herself out in workout gear that was not only light and breathable, but that also represented her own fashion-forward sensibilities.
Designing for life, and not just the gym was the result of years of thinking, problem solving, and eventually doing – ensuring that her designs came to life in just the way she had envisioned them.
It’s still very early days, but the response has been overwhelming. Kenya is getting fitter (or at the very least, trying to) and a homegrown brand that is the work of one of our very own is something that we can definitely get behind.
