Martha Karua, Betty Kyallo, Anne Kiguta, Among Top Most Influent African Women On Twitter

Politician Martha Karua, businesswoman Betty Kyallo, and media personality Anne Kiguta, are among the 37 Kenyan women featured on the list of Top 200 most influent African women on Twitter.

The list features women from 24 African countries, the majority from South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt.

The study has been conducted by; The smart Data power & the Women in Africa initiative’s (WiA), focusing on African women currently living on the continent, according to their biographies on Twitter.

The women are mostly journalists, businesswomen, or politicians, with a requirement of over 10,000 followers.

WiA is a platform dedicated to the economic development, and support of leading and high potential African women.

According to Margaux Birken from Smart Data Power, the study is an interesting snapshot of a thriving continent.

More and more women are currently ambassadors for Africa as a continent, and interestingly, women’s participation rate in the labour market is 55%, above the world average of 48%.

“This means that women have, and will have a central position in the development of their country,” says Birken.
