Mama Afrika Film Festival is calling on all female filmmakers, sculptors and visual artists to submit their works for a showcase at the Mama Afrika Film Festival 2018. The submission deadline is 30 June 2018. The Festival which was formerly, Udada Film Festival, has been the only women’s film festival in the East African region. Under the theme Legendary Women, this festival aims to recognize and celebrate women in the Arts by showcasing their various depictions as a source of inspiration in their communities.
The festival has been slotted for the 27th-30th of September 2018. The opening ceremony will consist of artistic performances and a cocktail party. According to the organizers, there will also be a cultural night to celebrate different cultural aspects such as film and cuisine. The festival will culminate in a night gala where filmmakers will be awarded.
Below are the requirements for filmmakers who want to submit their works:
- Production must have been completed after June 2016
- Films must have been done by African women and be about African gender issues
- Submission copies must be PAL format DVD. Submit 3 copies.
- An English language track or subtitled version is required.
- Duly filled entry form
