Malaika Firfth is only 21-years-old but has already established herself as an international fashion model. And now, after modeling for roughly four years, the Mombasa-born, London-based model will be featured in an exclusive Vogue Japan photo editorial. She is nothing short of excited.
“After that Prada campaign when I was being compared to Naomi Campbell I was so happy,” Malaika, who became the first black Prada model since Naomi Campbell in 2013, told The Guardian earlier this week. “I guess I see myself as a kind of junior ambassador – I should pat myself on the head for that.”
The Vogue editorial, entitled “WE ARE SO DROEE,” will hit the stands in May and was shot by acclaimed Italian fashion photographer Giampaolo Sgurra. The editorial features heavily patterned and surrealistic influences, with Malaika shown in an array of colorful garments and makeup. Already signed as a model at the age of 17, Malaika appears ready to take on the world.
