Making The Most Of Quarantine: Call For Filmmakers To Submit Work

Creatives in film are being called upon to submit their works for the Box and Docubox short film competition. The contest which is organized by Docubox – The East African Film Fund, aims to engage and connect filmmakers during this time of quarantine and self-isolation.

The organization fund filmmakers in East Africa and enable them to share their unique stories with the world through creative documentaries. This organization has successfully conducted other short film competitions in the past such as Sema Stori in 2019.

Interested applicants are required to submit a 1-2 minutes long film shot from home.  The judges will also look out for professionalism hence the applicants are encouraged to share films of good quality picture and sound. All Kenyan filmmakers are eligible for this contest.

To compete, one needs to follow the simple steps below:

  1. Follow Docubox on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter at Docubox Film Fund.
  2. Upload your film to your chosen social media platform using the hashtag #shortsshortsshots to ensure that Docubox is able to see it.

The three best filmmakers will receive a cash prize of KES 10,000 each and their films will be screened at the Shorts, Shorts & Shots screening that is one of Docubox’s projects. The submission deadline is 1st May 2020.
