Popular Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni has come out to declare his stance against supporting or financing any politician looking for a parliamentary seat.
Speaking during his morning radio show, Kageni told political spirants to stay away. This for sure will be a blow to many aspirants as Maina Kageni is one of the richest media personalities in Kenya, owning multiple luxurious cars and properties in Miami.
“I cannot give anyone Ksh5 to go and stand for an election, it is a lie. And you know I have got colleagues here (at the media house) who are going for elective seats. I swear if you are standing for an elective post, I don’t care who you are, don’t come to me,” he said.
This news comes as a blow especially to Kiss 100 presenter Jalang’o who will be vying for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.
Talking to Jalang’o on his hit youtube show ‘Bonga na Jalas’ mid last year, Maina Kageni showed his support for Jalang’o political ambitions. He promised to give him money to fund his rallies.
“I will give you money and I will be at your rallies because I am not at the beck and call of some party leader,” the presenter promised.
Kageni however expressed his hesitations with politicians who change after acquiring a seat.
“If you go into Jubilee or ODM, your thinking must conform with the thinking of the people at the top. Anything outside that and you’re branded a rebel, so suddenly the Jalang’o we know getting into politics won’t be the Jalang’o we see,” he said.
Jalang’o is just but one of his fellow colleagues who will be vying for an elective seat that he won’t be supporting, as well as Alex Mwakideu.
