Maandy Kabaya Takes It Notches Higher With Her New Album, Frisky

Rapper and singer Maandy Kabaya is one of Kenya’s fast-rising musicians. She recently dropped her new album Frisky. The 12 track album is a showcase of her versatility and talent as it is a blend of various genres such as Gengetone, Hip Hop, RnB, and experimental multigenre sounds.

The Frisky album, which is her second after her 2019 debut album Kabaya, has both collaborations and singles. In it, Maandy has featured artists Ndovu Kuu and long-time collaborators Fena Gitu and Breeder LW. The album caters to the music needs of many. It has Gengetone hits such as Hivi na Hivo, Money Man, and Sirudi Home Refix. Hip Hop in the songs Shash Na Lipgloss, and Moneyback Freestyle. Multi-genre and experimental sounds such as Bad Gal Anthem.

Maandy who is popularly known for her rapping also flaunted her vocals in this album too. For instance, in the song Magizani, which is adapted from Canadian singer, Tamia’s So Into You, Maandy sings her heart out. Storytelling in music is a rare skill and Maandy shows off her skill by amazing storytelling in the song Forbidden Fruit. The album also has introspective and sentimental songs such as One Day and Mambo Gani.

Lastly, what is an album without a party anthem? Maandy adequately caters to this in songs like Relax, Shash Na Lipgloss, Bad Gal Anthem, and Hivi Na Hivo. The album is definitely one worth checking out. It is available on Mdundo, Boomplay, Spotify, and YouTube.
